What can String be used for?

Any business that makes a tangible product can benefit from fast, effective batch-level traceability - whatever market they’re in. Some markets have more urgent, clearly defined requirements than others, however. We’re already working with businesses in a variety of markets to deliver compliance, improved efficiency and new marketing opportunities.

String makes traceability possible for any product, for any process, and for any company, no matter where it appears in the supply chain.

String is a flexible, simple to use service designed to capture a broad range of data relating to:
- Raw materials sourced from a 3rd party supplier
- Production processes performed by the company itself
- Business practices adopted by the company at organizational level

To implement traceability within your organization, just configure your String account to reflect your production processes. You only need to include processes which generate outputs with distinctive, but common, characteristics requiring a unique batch number.

For some product types we have created standard "global" datasets. This ensures that the same information is captured in different supply chains. If a customer or industry has specific data requirements, users can build their own customized datasets about their processes, products, and organization.

The relevant information can be connected to the batch of product used to fulfill an order and sent to the respective customer on String to show that the products:

Comply with Government Legislation
– Health and Safety Requirements (e.g. US HACCP regulations, EU Food Directive)
– Trade Import Tariffs (e.g. EU Outward Processing for Textiles Quota)

– Product and Production Standards (e.g. Organic, Fair Trade Certification)
– Business Process Standards (e.g. SA8000, ISO 14000 Certification, GS1)

– Controlled Origin (e.g. Country of Origin Labeling, PDO’s, AOC etc)
